Jill Smolar has taught at Whitesburg Elementary since 2019.  Prior to that, she taught at Temple Elementary School for twenty-two years.  She has had the honor of being named teacher of the year twice during her teaching career.  She earned her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia.  She has a Master's degree in reading and literacy from Walden University. She is also certified in gifted and special education.  She and her husband, William, reside in Whitesburg.  They have three children and four grandchildren.
