Following 5 years as a teacher's assistant, I realized my love for teaching and working with children.  I made the decision to return to college and complete a degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of West Georgia.  After completing my degree, I accepted a teaching position at Whitesburg Elementary in 1996.  This is my 20th year and I have enjoyed working in a small community, where life long relationships are made with students, parents and colleagues.

My career in education began as a  teacher's assistant at Central Elementary in 1996.  I worked with 1st and 3rd grades during my 5 years there.  I left Central to attend the University of West Georgia and graduated in 1995, with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  I began working on completing my Master's Degree while working at Central with their Professional Development School as a Graduate Research Assistant.  In the fall of 1996 I was offered a position at Whitesburg Elementary in second grade.  I have taught 2nd, First, Reading Recovery, Pre-K and the Early Intervention Program (EIP), over the past 20 years.
